HI, I am excited to announce.

AS IS AND since 2016 — 10 YEARS ANNIVERSARY. And this year, the studio becomes sound.

My first music release is coming: "It's About Time Ver 001" — full release October 24, 2026, at 10:24 AM PT on AS IS AND TV (YouTube).

Why now? Because the music was always inside the work. The collages move — fragments turning, finding each other, breaking apart and becoming whole. This song is that movement, heard instead of seen. In the teaser, the collage circle spins at the exact speed of the music: one artwork, one rhythm, two forms.

It's about time — ten years of art, design and fashion, arriving at sound. And like everything in this studio, it refuses a single category: the artwork lives on as prints and wearable pieces in the shop, and now it also plays.

Welcome to AS IS AND.

AS IS AND is an independent creative studio exploring the space where art, design, fashion, and digital culture meet. Every piece begins as an idea about how we see — and then becomes something you can live with.

Assembly: symmetry, structure, and the space between fragments

Studio Collection 001: Assembly is the studio’s first collection, and it starts with a question: how do separate pieces come together to form something new?

Assembly explores symmetry and architectural form — the quiet tension and balance in the relationships between fragmented elements. Fragments that once stood alone are arranged, mirrored, and joined until a new whole emerges. The work draws on the studio’s long practice of digital collage: cutting, layering, and reassembling imagery until unexpected narratives surface.

The roots run deep. Assembly carries the spirit of Surrealism and Dada — movements that broke images apart to free the imagination. It borrows from Deconstructivism’s love of fragmented, reassembled form, and from Fluxus, which blurred the line between art and everyday life. Assembly sits in that lineage: art that refuses to stay in one category.

From digital collage to wearable art

What begins as digital collage doesn’t stay on the screen. The Assembly works move from the digital canvas into wearable pieces and objects for everyday life — prints that bring the composition to your wall, pins that carry a fragment of the dream, and an oversized T-shirt that turns the artwork into something you wear.

Eri — AS IS AND

Finding a gift for someone who seems to have everything can feel impossible.

They may already own the gadgets they need, the clothes they like, and the everyday objects they use most. Buying another predictable gift can feel impersonal, especially when the goal is to show real thought.

The answer is not always to spend more. Often, the best gift is something with personality. A useful object with an unusual detail. A wearable piece that feels different from what is found in every high-street shop. Something that reflects the recipient’s interests, sense of humour, taste, or everyday rituals.

Here is how to find a distinctive gift that feels personal without making the process complicated.

Start with the person, not the product

The most common gifting mistake is searching by category first.

People begin with searches like “best gifts for men,” “gifts for her,” or “unique birthday presents.” These searches can be useful, but they often lead to broad lists filled with familiar products.

Instead, start with the person.

Think about:

  • What do they do every day?
  • What are they always talking about?
  • What kind of visual style do they like?
  • Do they prefer practical things or decorative objects?
  • Are they drawn to humour, nostalgia, minimalism, colour, or unusual design?
  • What is something they would enjoy but might not buy for themselves?

These questions help narrow the search in a more useful way. You are not simply looking for a product. You are looking for a small connection between the gift and the person receiving it.

Look for useful gifts with character

A distinctive gift does not have to be strange or impractical.

In fact, the best gifts often combine everyday usefulness with a memorable design. A mug, tote, shirt, print, accessory, or home item can become much more special when it has a point of view.

The object should still fit naturally into the recipient’s life. The difference is that it should feel chosen rather than generic.

For example, a useful gift might also be:

  • A conversation starter.
  • A reflection of a personal interest.
  • A small expression of humour.
  • A reminder of a shared memory.
  • A detail that makes an ordinary routine more enjoyable.

This balance makes a gift easier to use and more meaningful to receive.

Choose personality over perfection

When shopping for someone with strong taste, it can be tempting to find the most polished or expensive option.

But a gift does not need to match a perfect aesthetic to feel considered. Sometimes the most memorable choice is the one with a little more personality.

Creative products can be especially effective because they carry a visual or emotional point of view. They might be playful, nostalgic, bold, understated, or slightly unexpected.

The right question is not:

“Would everyone like this?”

It is:

“Would this person recognise themselves in it?”

A gift with a clear identity can feel more personal than an expensive item designed to appeal to everyone.

Consider their everyday rituals

If you are unsure what someone would like, pay attention to the routines they already have.

Do they start every morning with coffee? Carry the same bag everywhere? Spend weekends at home? Decorate their workspace? Wear relaxed basics? Collect small objects connected to their interests?

Everyday rituals reveal useful gift opportunities.

A person who enjoys quiet mornings may appreciate something that adds character to their kitchen or workspace. Someone who is always on the move may prefer a practical accessory. A person who cares about their surroundings may enjoy something that gives their home or desk more personality.

The gift becomes more successful when it fits into an existing habit instead of creating a new one.

Shop for the feeling, not just the occasion

Birthdays, holidays, anniversaries, and milestones all come with their own expectations. But the occasion should not completely determine the gift.

Try to think about the feeling you want the gift to create.

Do you want it to feel:

  • Funny and unexpected?
  • Warm and nostalgic?
  • Useful but still distinctive?
  • Creative and expressive?
  • Relaxed and informal?
  • Thoughtful without being overly serious?

This approach helps you avoid gifts that are technically appropriate but emotionally forgettable.

A small item can feel generous when it communicates the right feeling. The meaning comes from the connection between the product, the recipient, and the moment.

Look beyond mass-market gift guides

Mainstream gift guides are a helpful starting point, but they tend to repeat the same products.

If you want something more distinctive, explore independent creative shops and small lifestyle brands. These stores often offer products with a clearer point of view and a stronger connection to design, humour, culture, or personal expression.

Independent shops can also make discovery more enjoyable. Instead of choosing from endless versions of the same product, you may find something that feels less expected.

Think about presentation

The way a gift is presented can change how it is received.

You do not need elaborate wrapping. A short handwritten note can be enough to explain why you chose it. This is especially helpful when the gift is unusual or connected to a shared interest.

You might write:

  • “This reminded me of you.”
  • “I thought this would fit your space.”
  • “This felt like something you would actually use.”
  • “I saw this and immediately understood why you would like it.”

The note gives context without overexplaining. It turns a product into a personal gesture.

Do not wait for a major occasion

Distinctive gifts are not limited to birthdays and holidays.

A small, well-chosen item can work just as well for:

  • A new home.
  • A work milestone.
  • A thank-you.
  • A friendship anniversary.
  • A care package.
  • A visit or weekend away.
  • A simple “thinking of you” moment.

In many cases, unexpected gifts feel more meaningful because they are not required. There is less pressure, and the gesture can stay simple.

A quick checklist for choosing the right gift

Before buying, ask yourself:

  1. Does this remind me of the person?
  2. Can I imagine them using or enjoying it?
  3. Does it have some character beyond basic function?
  4. Is it suitable for their style and daily life?
  5. Would I still choose it if it were not currently popular?
  6. Can I explain in one sentence why I picked it?

If you can answer yes to most of these questions, you are probably close to the right choice.

The best gifts feel discovered

A good gift does not need to be expensive, complicated, or perfectly matched to a trend.

It needs to feel discovered.

That might mean finding a design that reflects someone’s sense of humour, an object that fits naturally into their routine, or a product that feels different from the usual choices. The goal is to give them something that feels like it could only have been chosen for them.

That is usually where the best gift begins.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a good gift for someone who has everything?

Look for something useful with personality. Creative home goods, wearable products, accessories, and small lifestyle items can feel more personal than standard luxury gifts.

How do I choose a unique gift?

Start with the recipient’s interests, routines, style, and sense of humour. Then choose a product that connects naturally to at least one of those qualities.

Are independent shops good places to find gifts?

Yes. Independent shops often carry products with more distinctive designs and a clearer creative identity than large general retailers.

How much should I spend on a thoughtful gift?

The price matters less than the connection. A modest gift can feel very thoughtful when it clearly reflects the person receiving it.

What makes a gift feel personal?

A gift feels personal when it shows that you noticed something about the recipient. It may relate to their interests, habits, style, humour, or a shared memory.

Fashion moves quickly, but great design endures.

For decades, oversized silhouettes have evolved beyond trends to become a defining element of contemporary fashion. From the studios of designers in Paris and Tokyo to the streets of New York, oversized clothing has become a language of comfort, proportion, and self-expression.

At AS IS AND, we believe oversized garments aren't about wearing more fabric—they're about creating space. Space for movement. Space for individuality. Space for clothing to complement the person wearing it rather than define them.

The Difference Between Oversized and Oversized Done Well

An oversized fit isn't simply about choosing a larger size.

It's a carefully considered balance of proportion, drape, shoulder placement, sleeve length, and silhouette. When designed intentionally, an oversized garment feels structured rather than bulky, relaxed rather than careless.

This distinction is what transforms an everyday essential into a wardrobe staple.

Built for Everyday Wear

The strongest pieces in a wardrobe are often the simplest.

A premium oversized T-shirt becomes the foundation of countless outfits. An oversized hoodie transitions effortlessly between work, travel, weekends, and evenings out. These garments aren't designed for a single season—they're designed to be worn repeatedly, developing character over time.

That's the philosophy behind Assembly 001.

Rather than introducing a large collection, we chose to begin with two considered essentials: an oversized T-shirt and an oversized hoodie. They represent the foundation of the AS IS AND wardrobe—versatile, understated, and designed to remain relevant beyond seasonal trends.

Investing in Fewer, Better Pieces

Modern luxury isn't measured by excess. It's measured by intention.

Building a wardrobe around versatile essentials encourages thoughtful consumption and lasting value. A well-designed oversized garment pairs easily with tailored trousers, denim, cargo pants, or layered outerwear, making it one of the most adaptable pieces you can own.

When clothing is made to be worn often, it becomes part of your everyday life—not simply another purchase.

The Future of Contemporary Essentials

Timeless design doesn't ask for attention. It earns it through consistency, craftsmanship, and purpose.

At AS IS AND, we see essentials as the starting point of personal style. Assembly 001 represents that foundation: refined silhouettes created to be worn today, tomorrow, and for years to come.

Explore the Assembly 001 collection and discover contemporary essentials designed with intention, built for longevity, and made to become part of your everyday wardrobe.

There is value in what already exists.

Not everything needs to be reinvented. Sometimes the most meaningful design begins by observing, refining, and assembling what already belongs.

That idea is the foundation of AS IS AND.

The name is an invitation rather than a conclusion. It suggests continuation. Addition. Possibility. What something is, and what it can become.

Our first release, Assembly 001, is the beginning of that conversation.

Assembly is more than construction. It is the deliberate act of bringing together ideas, materials, people, and culture with intention. It is where individual elements become something greater than themselves.

The debut consists of two garments: an oversized T-shirt and an oversized hoodie.

Nothing more.

That decision is intentional.

Rather than introducing a collection built around excess, Assembly 001 establishes a foundation. The silhouette is familiar. The execution is considered. The purpose is longevity over novelty.

These are garments designed to live with the wearer—not to compete for attention.

AS IS AND exists at the intersection of contemporary design, architecture, art, and everyday utility. We believe clothing should create space for expression instead of demanding it. The strongest pieces become part of your identity quietly, revealing themselves over years of wear rather than moments of spectacle.

Assembly 001 is our first statement.

Not about trends.

Not about seasons.

Not about hype.

It is about creating a permanent foundation from which everything else can evolve.

This is the beginning.

Welcome to AS IS AND.
